Peter Obi: Call For My Arrest, Prosecution Baseless – Lai Mohammed
The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed on Wednesday, said
the call for his arrest and prosecution for admonishing Labour Party (LP) Presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, over inciting the public to violence is unjustifiable.
Mohammed stated this in London while reacting to the call by Edwin Clark, an Elder Statesman and Leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), that he should be arrested and prosecuted for spreading “fake news” about Obi.
The minister said he stood by his admonition of Obi, a former Anambra State governor, and his LP running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, saying that his advice was never premised on falsehood.
“What will be my offence? Is it by chiding the Vice Presidential candidate of the Labour Party who said on live television that if the President-elect Bola Tinubu is sworn in on May 29, that would be the end of democracy in
Nigeria?
“Is it to chide him for saying that swearing in Tinubu on May 29 is like swearing in the military?
“What is the fake news in that?” Mohammed queried.
He added,
“The position of the law is clear that anybody who’s aggrieved over election results should go to court.
“It’s not to start threatening Nigerians and heating up the polity simply because you lost an election.”
The minister stressed that the APC won the Feb. 25 presidential election
“fair and square”, and INEC was correct in declaring Tinubu the winner.

“I Will Not Hold A Nigerian Passport With Tinubu As President” - Ex-Lagos Deputy Governor, Sinatu Ojikutu, Vows To Renounce Citizenship Before Tinubu’s Inauguration
According to her, she has been humiliated and ostracised because of her lingering battle with the former Lagos state governor as well as her views on the 2023 general election.
“Before the results of the presidential elections were declared, I came out to say that if Bola Tinubu won the election, I would renounce my citizenship in Nigeria and I have my reasons. When he won, people called me and said he would not do anything bad. But I am endangered by the current situation. I have been ostracised and humiliated in places where I should be honoured because of his not being at peace with me.
I will not hold a Nigerian passport with Bola Tinubu as President. I am praying to God to give me the nation I can go to. I am not going to America or the United Kingdom. I want a simple place where I (can) stay and live for the rest of my life. I don’t know where I am going but I have already given it to the lawyers to please see where I can get the citizenship. I am working on it seriously before May 29.”
She said she is of the view that it was the turn of the South East to take over the presidency in 2023.
‘’I am one of those who believed that it is the turn of the South-East to get the presidency. If we say we want to remain one of Nigeria, then we have to consider equity. You can’t say there is one Nigeria while suppressing a particular zone from getting to the number one shot.
“Many people know that with the records of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in eight years and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the years before; somebody who is not compromised, who is not part of the corruption, will find it difficult to vote for both parties. That is being sincere.”

Dino For Governor Is A Joke - Wike
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has laughed off Senator Dino Melaye’s Kogi governorship ambition, saying the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain does not have what it takes to vie for such a position.
The governor was speaking during a media chat with selected journalists in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
“When you give Dino that ticket, you know he won’t win in Kogi State,” Wike said during the parley.
“Why would Kogi people say they would vote for a candidate like Dino? Are we joking?”
He said the mere fact that someone is from a place does not equate to electoral success if such a person contests an election.
“Dino does not have what it takes [to be a governor] for crying out loud,” Wike maintained. “He knows me very well. He does not have what it takes to be a governor.”
According to him, if the PDP gives the ticket to the former Kogi West lawmaker, the party is doomed to lose the exercise.
“Does it mean now that if the PDP wants to win the election, it would give the ticket to Dino and you say tomorrow that you were rigged when you have already killed yourself?” he wondered.
“Are we saying that we want to win an election or just have a candidate?” the former minister asked.
