Before the generalisation of the IGBO identity on the entire Easterners for its administrative convenience, the concentration of what is today IGBOs were people of Awka in Anambra down to the people hinterland of imo towards the imo river. These were the Isu people, and these were who our ancestors from this ANIOMA end, called the IGBOs, and the Ikwerre and ijaw people called the Isuoma, and these descriptives were used as a slur on them.

Abia was a proper Akwa cross people. From Aro to Old Bende to Ohafia, Umuahia were all of ibibio descent.

Enugu people are majorly of igala heritage and Jukuns.

Ebonyi people are of igala ancestry and the Orings.

The other part of Anambra, from Nri to Agwukwu to Onitsha.. and other riverine areas of Anam and Co are all of igala and Edo ancestry.

Some parts of Imo too are of, Aniocha heritage. The Ogute people. The Egbema people of Imo are of Ikwerre Heritage.
So, it is very much clear that the IGBOs like we know them today are just a cut and join British contraption. The only reason some of these none original IGBO groups, that are now identifying as IGBOs is simply because of lack of knowledge of their noble heritage and because IGBOs as fraudulently identify as the third majority ethnic Nigeria group. So, some of these folks want to keep falsely identifying as IGBOs so as to cling to that "igbo is a majority ethnic group" falsehood.

Three out of four Nigerian youths believe the country is heading in the wrong direction, placing Nigeria among the most pessimistic countries in a 16-nation African survey published this month.

The 2026 African Youth Survey, published by the Ichikowitz Family Foundation, also found that while young Nigerians remain deeply concerned about the country’s trajectory, their confidence in Africa’s broader outlook has improved over the past two years.

The survey shows that the share of Nigerian youths who believe the continent is moving in the right direction has tripled, rising from 10% in 2024 to 30% in 2026.

This highlights a growing gap between how young Nigerians perceive national progress and their expectations for Africa’s future.

Chad will abolish entry visa requirements for all African nationals starting January 1, 2027.

President Deby announced the move to promote African unity and facilitate the free movement of people and goods.

Chad becomes the eighth African nation to offer visa-free entry to all Africans, following countries like Rwanda and Kenya.

The policy supports Africa's trend towards removing travel barriers, in line with African Union's Agenda 2063 and AfCFTA.
