Today, two Spring Drive limited edition timepieces are launched to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the first Grand Seiko GMT and the 15th anniversary of the first chronograph. Both join the Grand Seiko Sport collection, with their dials inspired by the winter snow in the mountains surrounding their studio in Shinshu, central Japan.
These watches are as solid as the Hotaka Mountains that Grand Seiko watchmakers saw from Shinshu Watch Studios. The case and bracelet of the GMT version are made of stainless steel, while the GMT Chronograph version is made of high-strength titanium. The dial captures the rough texture of the alpine snow in late winter and early spring, and when strong winds blow across the snow, they carve unique patterns. Both are powered by specially tuned Spring Drive movements that provide enhanced accuracy of ±10 seconds per month. Both feature a secure transparent case back through which the 18K gold Grand Seiko lion logo can be seen, which accentuates the oscillating weight for precision.
