Tracking your academic performance: The need to know your Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). Conventionally, CGPA is a cumulative measure of the quality point average from all the courses used by a learner over his or her course of study. Every course is then given a point value for its grade, which ranges from 0 to either 4 or 5 based on the academics of the different institutions. Once the grade points for each course are obtained, they are added up and divided by the total number of courses that the person has completed to arrive at the CGPA.
