Mount Everest, the highest mountain in the world, stands proudly on the border between Nepal and China. It rises deep in the famous Himalayas, surrounded by some of the tallest peaks on Earth.
With a height of 8,848.86 meters, Mount Everest is located in the Khumbu region of Nepal, inside Sagarmatha National Park.
On the Nepal side, most trekkers begin their journey from Lukla (2,860 m) and pass through Namche Bazaar (3,440 m) before heading toward Everest Base Camp at 5,364 m.
Fun fact: Mount Everest is called “Sagarmatha” in Nepal and “Chomolungma” in Tibet, both meaning “Goddess of the Sky.”
