Okocha Urges Tinubu to Declare State of Emergency Amid Rivers Crisis

Amid the ongoing crisis in Rivers state, the All Progressives Congress, APC, has once again urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently declare a state of emergency in the state. The party also called for the deployment of armed soldiers to key locations in the state to prevent the breakdown of law and order.

During a press conference held in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, Chief Tony Okocha, the caretaker chairman of the party, emphasized the evident lawlessness in the state orchestrated by non-state actors. He stressed that immediate action was necessary to prevent further escalation of the situation, as delaying could lead to dire consequences.

Furthermore, Okocha clarified that Law No 2 of 2024, which has sparked controversy, was not aimed at extending the tenure of former chairmen but rather for future considerations. More details on this matter will be provided soon.
