Nigeria’s First National Youth Conference Holds Oct 12 As #bitumen Approaches 1st Anniversary

Ministry of Youth and Sports Development is set to host the first-ever National Youth Conference in Nigeria from October 12 to 15 at the Velodrome of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

The conference is premised on the realisation that Nigeria needs her youth, not only to be supported and developed but also to understand the dimensions of political developments, grasp national issues and consciously position themselves as co-builders.

The conference will discuss diverse and urgent issues confronting the youth and tugging at the very heart of the nation.

On the night of 20 October 2020, at about 6:50 p.m., members of the Nigerian Army opened fire on peaceful End SARS protesters at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos State, Nigeria. Amnesty International stated that at least 12 protesters were killed during the shooting. A day after the incident, on 21 October, the governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-olu, initially denied reports of any loss of lives, but later admitted in an interview with a CNN journalist that "only two persons were killed".
